(LAGRANGE) - The LaGrange County Council received a fiscal report from an organization that serves four counties.
During their meeting Monday, the County Council was presented with the fiscal report from The Northeastern Center. Chief Executive Officer Steve Howell says they serve residents of LaGrange, Noble, Steuben and DeKalb Counties. He says the Northeastern Center receives funds from the counties by statute. He says they have an obligation and a responsibility to provide a full continuum of services and be a good steward of these dollars.
The Northeastern Center started in 1977. Howell says their mission has not changed. It is to help individuals achieve emotional and mental wholeness through accessible, affordable and quality behavioral health services. He says they treat people with addiction problems and mental health problems. Howell says that could be anything that is considered severe and persistent mental illness to people dealing with situational stress and situational problems. (LISTEN ABOVE).
Howell says their success rate in helping clients is at 95%. That is the number of people showing improvement from when they first started receiving services from Northeastern Center.
